Lawyers training program – Fourth training session, August 2008

Habi Center for Environmental Rights (HCER) held the fourth training session of lawyers which titled on "Environmental rights between environmental concepts and Mechanisms to claim rights". The training had an observed number of young lawyers from many governorates around Egypt, such as: Aswan, Al Minia, Damietta, Suez, Alexandria, Al Behera (the lake), North Sinai, Helwan, and Cairo, and from 26 to Aug. 28, 2008 in Cairo.
 

The style of the training varieties among many methods, in which from the scientific lecture, and the harsh mental method, and to the work groups, the topics of the training were on the concept of the environment and sustainable development which Dr. Samir El Mofty (Secretary General of the DRC earlier - and expert in environmental matters) discussed, as well another presentation for the most genera; policies for managing the environmental resources in Egypt "what is it and what it" with Dr. Ahmad Hegazy (Professor of Environmental Sciences Faculty of the University of Cairo - Secretary of the Environment Research and Development academic scientific research)
 
Training also included the topic of the roots of environmental rights in international covenants of human rights addressed by Prof.  Ahmed Seif El-Islam Hamad (director of Hisham Mubarak Center), and for Dr. Sahar Hafiz (Professor of environmental law - and advisor to the National Center for Sociological and Criminological Research) displayed a presentation on the environmental legislations in Egypt as well as charters and conventions of international environmental problems and their application in Egypt through two meetings during training, Mr. Muhammad Nagi (The Lawyer and the executive director of HCER) Training on what environmental rights and access mechanisms and legal bases, next day and through a present of lawyers contains real experiences and experiments with an environmental problems, there was a common brainstorming in leading of Mr. Nagi to reach these suitable mechanisms for dealing with the environmental issues. The following session was such a workshop in groups about some real environmental cases in which trainees through common workshops to deal with and exhibiting each group results. Training lasted over five hours a day until the assessment of trainees on the training of scientific and records rule, regulation and training mechanisms, also includes training to fill the questionnaire forms before and after training to clear the extent to which the impact of training on the level of knowledge regarding the trainees on environmental and legal arguments domestically and internationally, and The end of the training course were distributed certificates of appreciation to the attendees According to attend the training course commitment and active participation during training. This will be the next training for lawyers during the month of March 2009.
